Starting online marketing can be both exciting and overwhelming, but I have learned that with a positive attitude and a desire to learn, anything is possible. Here are 9 things I've learned so far: 

  1. Setting goals is important: Before I started, I planned for what I wanted to achieve. This helps me stay focused and motivated, and I can see how far I've come. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bound and SMART.
    • Here's an example of me setting a SMART goal for online marketing: 
    • Specific: Increase website traffic by 20% in the next 3 months. 
    • Measurable: I can measure the success of this goal by tracking my website traffic using Google Analytics or a similar tool. 
    • Achievable: A 20% increase in website traffic in 3 months is achievable with consistent effort and a well-planned strategy. 
    • Relevant: Increasing website traffic is a relevant goal for online marketing as it can help me reach a wider audience, generate more leads, and grow my business. 
    • Time-bound: The goal is time-bound as it specifies a 3-month timeframe for achieving the desired increase in website traffic. 
    • With this SMART goal, I have a clear, specific, and achievable target to work towards. By regularly tracking my website traffic, I can see if I,m on track to meet my goal and make adjustments as needed. 
  2. Networking is key: Meeting other people in online marketing is a must. I've met some amazing people who have offered valuable advice and support. They've also helped me learn about new trends and opportunities in the industry. 
  3. Keep learning: Online marketing is always changing, so it's important to keep up. I'm always reading, watching videos, and taking courses to stay current. I believe that this is what sets successful online marketers apart and helps them stay ahead of the game. 
  4. Have a strong brand: Your brand is what makes you unique in online marketing. I've learned that it's important to spend time and effort creating a brand that stands for who you are and what you stand for. This includes your logo, color scheme, font choices, and messaging. 
  5. Content is king: Creating valuable and engaging content is the foundation of a successful online marketing strategy. I've learned that by consistently producing high-quality content, you can build trust and credibility with your audience. This can include blog posts, videos, podcasts, and more.
